Planning a Wedding in Las Vegas Blog
In May 2006 my son was married at Treasure Island in Las Vegas. This is a follow-up report to our original blog of April 2005. See that Report.
This is what we learned:
The chapel at Treasure Island did indeed make a lovely setting for the wedding. Pictures
Yep, it only lasted about 20 minutes, but the officiant the bride and groom selected was great. More
Cashman Professional or Las Vegas Photography provided the photography and videography, but what was included in the price was misleading. More
While all the hotels stressed that photos could be taken around any of the venues, the photographer at Treasure Island did not offer that option and the woman photographer was, in fact, not all that accomodating. Pictures
The wedding was held on Friday to take advantage of the lower rate, but there was a wedding scheduled every half hour. We were welcomed in but rushed out.
The Ceremony was held at 2:00 pm. Then we all went to "Dishes", TI's excellent buffet. More
We were glad we were inside. It was HOT even though it was only mid-May.
The couple's flight was delayed, so they barely made it in time to get their limo to the Court House to get their marriage license fee. More
Still a good reminder: "Women's total instinct for gambling is satisfied by marriage." - Gloria Steinem

Called simply "Dishes" when we were there, it has been renamed since as "The Buffet at TI, America's Favorite Dishes", which is a bit of a misnomer since its special appeal is that it is, as billed, "reminiscent of great food markets of the world".
The wonderful manager, Omri, made sure that our table for 16 was set up and that everyone was able to enter thru the VIP lane. It was a great way to celebrate right after the wedding.

Steve and Sherry selected Reverend Cameron W. Johnson and were pleased with this choice.

The photo session lasted about a half hour, although some packages at other hotels offer an hour session and a choice of venues where the photos can be taken. The bride also talked to someone at Cashman's who seemed to misrepresent what was being offered, however, the package spells things out pretty clearly, stating that the photo CD cost "starts at" $500. Any way you look at it, photography in Las Vegas is going to be costly but perhaps no worse than wedding photography in most large cities in the U.S.

Because of problems with their inbound flight, the couple arrived only minutes before 11:00 pm, the deadline they were given for catching the hotel limo to the court house. Nonetheless, the concierge at TI arranged for an outside limo service to take them, and the hotel staff was very concientious and considerate.
